  1. Almost got a chance to go to Japan for a job in the mid-2000s. Even though it would have been an lower level position, I would have gotten free housing / housing stipend. I'm sure I would have spent half my salary or more on living expenses / going out. Even back then, that's 50K+ USD injected into their economy. Countries never want to lose the corporate office money. Can't replace it.
