Ukraine fielded a lot less men and equipment defending bakhmut. But they reinforce it when needed because the Russians are allowing them to attrition them massively. The amount of men and equipment Russia has lost around bakhmut is staggering. It’s like the old saying goes. When your enemy keeps making mistakes you let them.
