True so true about Florida, I bought my first condo an both of my homes as a foreclosures. This last one I paid 60% of it's total value. That left me money to gut, upgrade and remodel it into our dream smart home. (20 miles inland and can withstand up to 140mph w/ the automated shutters closed) Yeah, Ian really wrecked some places, a lot of the places had homes, buildings and businesses built before 1992. After hurricane Andrew the building codes changed but it wasn't required for anything built before 1992. Building codes were further updated in 2005 and 2015. Updating to the new codes wasn't mandated it was left up to the owners discretion. That's why there's so much damage, a lot of buildings hadn't been updated since the 40s,50s and 60s. Due to cost and hopes to keep that historical Florida atmosphere.
