  1. Yeah, that Syrian tank crew was right to run. An armoured truck, even if it is crazy enough to fight a tank, does not fight a tank by ramming the treads with its bumper. That's a driver trying to keep in contact so that the explosives can do their job.

  2. He may not have said it specifically, but that's basically forcing the vehicle to drive in to a minefield. Organized militaries don't tend to use IED's because the I stands for Improvised, and you don't need to improvise bombs if you're the army.
