A sailboat design sailing at an angle to the wind can sail faster than the wind. The sailboat design can't sail faster than twice the wind speed. A sailboat design should be able to sail faster than wind speed and less than twice wind speed to be a sailboat design.

I think the physics makes what you believe impossible. The wind speed is the limit and the angle is the only advantage. Explain in detail how a sailboat design sails faster than 2 times the wind.

It has been reported that sailing rigging on boats and ice sail faster than 2 times the wind but if you are sailing at 90 degrees to the wind eventually the apparent wind comes directly from in front of the boat or ice boat. The faster you sail the more the angle of the wind moves toward the front of the boat at 2 times windspeed the angle of the apparent wind is directly in front of the boat. You can't sail any faster. Reported speed doesn't change the reality of the physics of sailing. A sailboat or ice boat can't sail faster than 2 times windspeed.
