We’re here to help you, and we’ve instated a Covid testing procedure, even though the tests don’t really work that well, and even though there’s absolutely no science anywhere that shows testing for travellers stops or even slows the spread of a virus, but hey, were DOING something, so feel better and vote for us next election”

  3. Testing from Chinese visitors does NOTHING to stop or slow down the global spread of an airborne virus. It’s a draconian measure NOT based on any science, only on politics. This is a stupid rule and only satisfies idiocy and xenophobic voters. And why only implement this rule on January 05? According to the magical science you will let all the sick people from China in for the next week, and then after the fifth you will suddenly demand negative test results from Chinese travellers? This policy makes no sense scientifically, or politically.

  6. Sorry, there is absolutely no scientific validation or reason to impose testing on those from a place with a surge in cases, like China is going through right now. No scientific justification whatsoever. It is all political theatre. Travel bans and testing will neither stop nor slow down the spread of a highly contagious airborne virus. It’s already here and doing it’s work. It’s already too late. And waiting until January 5th makes even less sense, unless you live in a an alternate realty of ‘make-believe’ and political theatre. Politicians job is to convince you they are working hard to protect you and help you. But viruses don’t follow any known legislation

  7. A travel ban won’t stop the spread of an airborne virus. A complete travel ban has many exceptions, like diplomats, military, medical, emergencies, critical infrastructure personnel, etc.

  8. Nope. No science involved in lockdowns, travel bans or testing for those entering the country from China, no science whatsoever can support of justify any of the aforementioned measures. It was all political theatre to try and convince you the government is there to help you. Enjoy the show
