  1. Possible scenario: Maybe they weren’t trying to land. Maybe they were setting up for a SECOND go-around. Everything about the plane suggests this; no flaps extended, no spoilers raised, high rate of speed, and no landing gear. But they just couldn’t achieve V1 for some reason.

  5. It’s a testament to the idea of redundancy, ingenuity and the level of engineering and design that the door plug remained in place, WITHOUT any bolts, as long as it did, even more so considering how many pressure/de pressure cycles it went through in its short life.
