You have to question what kind of country we are when people are arrested and put in jail for putting up posters, with no evidence of hate speech, just facts about Heather Reisman’s and Gerry Schwartz’s funding of genocide in Israel, and inducing foreigners to participate in IDF genocide in Gaza with the promise of free university tuition, all funded by the Canadian government with tax breaks, through their CRA registered charity. This is illegal and should rescinded immediately.

  16. This was a peaceful protest, not vandalism. There was no real permanent damage (posters and a paint swatch can be easily removed), there was no hate speech involved, just posters and a blob of red paint. Kids graffiti walls with permanent spray paint all the time in this city and they aren’t charged, even though it’s clearly vandalism. So why should a few posters cause so much concern?

  19. Water based paint comes off in the rain, or with a garden hose. The posters come off when your thumb and fingers grip the paper and you pull. There was no damage. There was no vandalism. There was no hate speech. The posters stated facts about Heseg. This was just a protest. People are losing their minds over this for some inexplicable reason.

  29. This was not vandalism. Posters do not damage buildings. The paint comes off in the rain or with a hose. The paint did not damage the building. Canadians have the absolute right to peaceful protest. This was a peaceful protest. No one was hurt, injured or killed by these sheets of paper. Postering is not a crime in Canada. Postering was a crime in Germany around 1930’s. There is no evidence of any hate speech. No one involved has had a trial but so many here are ready to convict without one. Canadians don’t behave like this. Nazis did.

  40. The posters and paint aren’t the real issue here. Canadian taxpayers should not be funding genocide in Israel through Reismann’s Heseg group. Any group that supports genocide should not be awarded registered charitable status by the CRA, and funded by Canadian taxpayers.

  42. How much “damage” was caused by putting paper on glass with tape? How much “damage” was caused by throwing water soluble paint on glass? It washes off in the rain. If there was no lasting “damage” then there is no vandalism. I’m not sure exactly what the crime is here, if any. Paying someone $55,000 to remove some paper from the glass and to hose down the paint seems a bit inflated, but it’s perfect if you want to trump up the charges from nothing into something, even though it’s really nothing.

  47. So, you agree there was no damage. That’s fine. As for the question of vandalism this was clearly a political statement, not random kids tagging a wall or breaking glass. There’s a clear distinction. The posters were put there because the store owner runs a registered Canadian charity that induces foreigners to join the IDF, which is currently killing civilians indiscriminately.

If that’s considered ‘damage’ to you then you must think graffiti (with permanent spray paints) is murder.
