  1. This recent annexation is a fiction of Putin’s mind. It is not real. Putin could just as well tomorrow declare all of Ukraine as new or reclaimed Russian territory. But this does not make it so. Would Allied support then suddenly shrivel up and walk away from the fight in such a case? No. So why are some giving credence or thought to Putin’s latest faux annexation? The ravings of a madman are best ignored.
