Its commendable and honourable that Australia admitted to war crimes done by its soldiers, unlike USA which admitted no crimes done by American soldiers, and threatened and sanctioned any who dared to investigate.

@haldir3120 At least, it's one case more than USA, even its just civil. The main point is that military of the west did committed war crimes.

@timoaksel9320 What did you expect ? They conquered Afghanistan. In modern warfare history, no one from the victors that had done wrong had been prosecuted.
2
@White_Wrath What do muslims so it all the time ?
2
@thehumbleservant21 You should have known that Australia liked to tag along USA in their wars.....
2
@TheBagOfHolding No country would willingly admit to war crimes. Its the attitude after being exposed that count. In the case of war crimes against Afghanistan by the "democratic alliance", Australia as a whole did not deny its involvement in it which was commendable, unlike USA ( dare to do, dare not admit ).
2
@Bambisgf77 How so ? The women of Afghanistan were abandoned by the Americans back to the Taliban when they fled the country. Millions under Saddam might be starving, but at least there were political and social stability in Iraq. Unlike post-Saddam era after USA invasion when the country was broken up, factions of Sunni and Shia fighting among themselves and the forming of Islamic State. Millions were hungry and their human rights nosedived during that period, all thanks to USA and its allies "unlawful" invasion resulting to numerous refugees going to Europe.
2
@wlonsdale1 Don't worry, the rest of the world could take care of themselves. As for your country, perhaps UN peacekeepers could take charge.
2
@Bekombet Perhaps for Timor Leste, let bygones be bygones ( no choice ) unless it wants Indonesia to invade the new country again.
2
@Jeepus Chrysler It takes courage for the government to admit wrong doings committed by the military, especially war crimes. That, itself is commendable.
2
@Hoopadeez Yeah. But China had not engaged in wars for the past 43 years, unlike USA.
2
@leekichang8359 Afghans are not pure and had committed crimes during the war. However, the main issue was that USA and its allies portrayed itself, as righteous saviour of justice and freedom to save Afghan civilians from the tyrannical evil Taliban overlord.
2
@condorX2 Same with Afghanistan. Worse, sweep under the rug by Ukraine government until media expose the war crimes done by NATO/EU. Even then, nothing would happen.
1
@buellterrier3596 Australia just tagged along to support USA in their occupation of the country, and the soldiers treated the locals in however they liked. I agreed with you that USA invaded the wrong country. But at that time, USA needed Saudi Arabia's oil. So, too bad for Afghanistan ( scapegoat ) for not handing out Osama bin Laden after 911.
1
@lobo8834 But only war crimes of the losers being exposed and punished.
1
@glennmandigo6069 Its not a PRC fake. I had heard it in international news.
1
@modenasolone Yeah. Freedom from life.
1
@Amal-lm5fc Hopefully, the region of Middle East would have long term peace after successful mediation from China.
1
@theguycisterninoyelledat6272 You could not blame others for "bashing" USA since USA was involved in armed interventions, regimes change, invasions, spying and terrorism across the world for the past 50 years.
1
@SidewaysBurnouts I thought its Vietnam, that it suffered from Agent Orange legacy ?
1
Khan Khan But you had to remember its the American who recruited and trained Osama bin Laden, to be the world 1st terrorist leader in the first place to attack civilized societies. Take note of that. Also, Australia should stop being a "cheerleader" for USA future invasions and aggressions around the world.
1
@applejuice2258 USA ? Its USA which recruited and trained Osama bin Laden to be the world 1st terrorist leader.
1
@David-ns4ym Both. Australia media broke the news about war crimes committed by the military before the government admitted to it at that time. At least the government had the courage for the admission, unlike USA. As the title suggested, the decorated soldier lost the defamation case.
1
@weily10 Same with the Ukrainians.
1
@onceyouwheeinyoucantwheeout At least Australia admitted its war crimes after the media exposed it. Unlike USA, still in denial. Eg. The world knew that its USA which bombed the Germany ( ally ) gas pipelines, USA reactions were "No ! Not us, its Ukraine ! " LOL.
1
@damionkeeling3103 Virtue and honesty ? You meant democracy, freedom, human rights and ROCK SOLID supports for the people of Afghanistan from USA ? After 2021, USA is below par than the Taliban.
1
@persimmon93 You forgot USA and its allies were victors in Afghanistan 20 years ago ? Victors don't execute their own war criminals. Victors only execute war criminals from the losers like in WW2.
1
@santamanone LOL. I don't think anyone could argue you with that statement.
1
@_._._._._._._._._._._._._.____ I was praising Australia not hiding war crimes committed by its military, unlike USA which even tried to prevent any investigations into it. It is not a joke.
1
@richhornie7000 Not so. Australia doesn't have the economic clout nor the military strength comparable to USA. Its more of a vessal, having to follow USA policies to the point of paying penalties to France for buying USA submarines and of course, anti-China. Pathetic.
1
@SmokeyNades Complete irrelevancy ? USA needed Australia in AUKUS with military supports in Pacific and Indian Ocean. However, Australia future lies with Asia, not backstabbing USA or else the country would indeed slip down to complete irrelevancy.
