Would that the explanation of names were as easy in other languages. You will find the derivation of the Russian word for train station of interest I think. The Russians use the word "вокзал" pronounced "Voxhal" because a delegation of Russians to the England in the 19th century had never seen a railway station, and when they saw Vauxhall Station in London, they asked the English what that was. To which the English replied "That's Vauxhall" and from there the word stuck. "вокзал" is the word for train station in Russian!
