I'm sure those corporations feel so much shame right now. Pay employees more—why didn't they think of that! They're so embarrassed; they'll get right on those pay increases, no need for legislation! Jfc

Please, pretty please, corporations, please pay your employees! A winning strategy right there. Glad our brave leader is saying it!
2
Yeah, that's not the reason.

@merpding6069 Oh, well then, I'm glad he avoided making a barely living wage a political battle. Much better to just capitulate to the Republicans before the fight.

He has a microphone.

@fksons4161 People are taking it very seriously now. Yep. I'm glad Joe tied the message of raising wages to being a creepy old guy. Awesome strategy. Not quite as good as when he used it to support segregation, but we'll see how it plays out.

@sentaukrai Cool, your grandparents are creepy. Thanks for sharing.

@sentaukrai Sure pal. I lack your superior critical thinking because Biden's a creep doing that creepy whispering thing he's done for decades. You nailed it. Someone get this genius a Nobel. You have to understand that a simple, college-educated bumpkin such as myself can't comprehend the rhetorical mastery of Biden...whispering into the microphone like a creep. I'm looking through my Lanham, and even he wasn't informed enough to include such a refined technique. I wish I could've typed this in a whisper, for emphasis. Lol neoliberal bootlicker.
1
@sentaukrai I mean, aw shucks, my peepaw'd do this thing where he'd go up behind women and rub their shoulders and sniff their hair. It was a technique for getting them to like him. Now people call it "creepy" and "harassment," but I know Joe's an ok dude because my peepaw was a creep, too. I mean—

@sentaukrai Hey, do you remember when Biden whispered to the Senate that Democrats were soft on crime and we needed to lock up more people? I probably remember that because he whispered. Or because it was a repugnant comment made by a bloviating, self-aggrandizing politician on behalf of neoliberal austerity and the prison-industrial complex. I'm sure it was the whispering though. You know what's a great way to get people's attention (aside from whispering)? Saying anything of substance. Like, instead of saying, "Please corporations, pay your employees," he could've said, "Too late; we're raising the minimum wage to $20, and we'll do everything possible to pass it." Bet that would've caught someone's attention.

@sentaukrai Do you know what sarcasm is? That post about my "peepaw" was just to make fun of your "critical thinking." My grandad didn't actually do that lol.
1
@sentaukrai Like, I have a degree in English. I think my understanding of "linguistic technique" is at least on par with yours. But I'd love to hear you talk out your ass on a subject I have training in.
1
@sentaukrai Lol I graduated with highest honors and my thesis won the department prize. Went to a UC. Maybe you'd like to tell me more about my life, and I can keep correcting you. There are a few things you could probably make me feel insecure about. My intelligence isn't one of them. Not going to bother with the rest of that milquetoast, bootlicking nonsense.

@corpsefoot758 Railroad Strike of 1877 New Orleans general strike of 1892 Seattle general strike of 1919 Minneapolis general strike of 1934 Oakland general strike of 1946 Like I said, not remotely accurate, even in the context of the US. Biden whispering into a microphone like a septuagenarian creep isn't getting us closer to a general strike.
1
@corpsefoot758 That isn't what I said. Please read carefully. The OP claimed that this is the closest we've come to a general strike since unions were invented, and that's not remotely true. Liberals and "progressives" would do well to take a moment to learn something about the history of labor in this country rather than trying to think the present historically in the absence of history. Unable to deny that there have been a number of general strikes in the US, with more radical demands and far better organized than the pockets of discontent we have now, you have to pretend that I made a completely different claim. Please read carefully, and argue against what I actually wrote, not what it's convenient for you to hyperventilate about.
