The fact that Biden has been able to sleepwalk into the Oval Office is a discredit to our democracy.

@Bartetmedia I wouldn't count on it. Biden's gotten to where he is by telling myriad lies, big and small. That he was a civil rights activist, that he was arrested for helping Mandela, that he opposed the Iraq War, that his wife was killed by a drunk driver, that he's never tried to cut social programs. Mehdi Hasan has a good video that goes into just a few of his many tall tales.

@Bartetmedia Why does it have to be worse than Trump in order to be concerning? You naively claimed Biden would tell the truth once he's president, but he's had a lifelong habit of flagrantly lying to elevate his career. The fact that you're not aware of that and unconcerned about it is troubling.

@charcolew Yep.

@traciemac9533 From the Columbia Review of Journalism: Nonetheless, as Sam Stein and Maxwell Tani reported last week for the Daily Beast, it appears, in this cycle, as if “the main thing that is moving the electorate is the national media and there’s not really a close second.” Aides to every major Democratic campaign told Stein and Tani that they’ve “been stunned by the degree to which the conversation taking place on cable and national news has impacted the trajectory of the race.” According to one firm that monitors such things, Biden’s earned media between polls closing in South Carolina and yesterday evening may have topped $70 million in monetary value. That’s a lot of earning. https://www.cjr.org/the_media_today/super_tuesday_2020.php They call it "earned media," which is ironic because Biden didn't really do anything to earn it.

Flightof2Owls The problem is deeper than "corruption," which is a term vague enough that it can be deployed by the left and right (eg Lava Jato in Brazil). You have to ask how or why those parties got to be that way. Their corruption and steadfast opposition to progress is nothing new. 70 years ago WEB Dubois was writing about the death of democracy and corruption of politics in terms that still resound today. You can't fix corrupt parties without addressing underlying systems, namely the capitalist system and liberal (in the real, historical sense) ideology that undergirds both the major parties and the constitution.

You mean that neocon group pushing for a return to Bush era imperialism and plutocracy without Trimp's bad manners?
