  1. Constantly beating the drum for Ukraine both makes this channel look foolish and prevents it being actual journalism. Wagner finally took Bahkmut today .The number of lives lost on both sides runs into tens of thousands. Any responsible human being should now be pleading for peace not slavering enthusiastically over some semi-mythical escalation of the conflict.

  5.  @daydays12  Russia's. Putin's peace terms BEFORE the invasion were entirely reasonable and the tragedy is that something like them is quite likely what we will end up with. And half a million or more will have died to no purpose.

  6. @adrianocelentano3997 I think his initial proposals were entirely reasonable given the circumstances and the historic and economic realities. Sadly he will probably want more now. They were: Regional autonomy for Donbass. Recognition of Crimea as Russian. A firm promise for Ukraine not to join NATO.

  8.  @nudisco7882  If Ukraine is effectively defeated, as is entirely possible, then this will not occur. Glad you realise that the US is prepared to sacrifice half a million foreign lives in order to advance its commercial interests via NATO.

  9.  @philipmain5701  Because it can? And because it has every right to since NATO makes no bones about being Russia's enemy. Add to this the fact that modern Ukraine owes its very existence to Russia, that 'sovereignty ' is a mere buzzword with no real geopolitical meaning - and even if it did Ukraine would not qualify for the appellation since its status as an independent entity is the result of an historical accident, and has not been earned through conquest or administrative abilities. On top of this you might wonder why Russia, having removed its nuclear armaments from Ukraine a little over thirty years ago, should be expected to be happy to see them replaced by American ones. The fact that NATO is not a mutual defence organisation as much as a vehicle of American imperialist aggression also enters into it, of course.
