AND FOR PUTTING MONEY INTO THE AMERICAN ARMS INDUSTRY!

You really have swallowed the narrative, haven't you?

@sallywilton2236 I don't mind being in the minority. It's better than being in the wrong.

@doncarlodivargas5497 Russia stops when it gets what it feels it's entitled to. Which is Donbass.

@a.k.1902 The Russian Federation - as opposed to the USSR - has merely sought to retain its influence in neighbouring countries.

@Boghopper9999 Russia created modern Ukraine. Crimea and the industrialised sections of the country to the East of the Dnieper have large Russian populations and the mining and steelmaking industries were created by Russia, and continue to be largely managed by ethnic Russians. They were only transferred to the administration of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Ukraine for logistical reasons. They are, to all extents and purposes, still Russian.

Ukraine, against all reason and sense, has become a populist cause. I'm sure Trump sees the sense in playing both ends against the middle in his bid for votes.

And how many more are going to die now that America is giving them more weapons to continue their pointless fight?

@TonyM540 Not like AK47s are at all popular, is it?

@kasperbolding18 True enough.

Sucker.

@user-vc5zt9ci12 Demilitarised but with a puppet Moscow-facing government rather than occupied, I fancy. Even this is just one option. Russia may well allow Ukraine to retain a semblance of sovereignty West of the Dnieper as long as it stays out of NATO.

@doncarlodivargas5497 Russia attacked Kiev in order to face the Ukrainian army on Ukrainian territory. It is quite clear there was no expectation of actually taking it. And Finland - nor anywhere else- is under no threat unless their governments assist American imperialist aggression.

@sallywilton2236 Or to some Ukrainians, shall we say?

@doncarlodivargas5497 These are purely rhetorical assertions. That civilisations have no borders is an old quote referring to the fact that civilisations continue to influence other places through the presence of their natives in them. And there is no doubt that modern Ukraine is largely a Russian creation, in that it was occupied by Imperial Russia and then as a member of the Soviet Union. It is foolish to attribute any great significance to these statements and they certainly should not be taken out of context to indicate that Russia has expansionist ambitions. They are reflections of past glories, no more.

@TonyM540 The situations are slightly different. The Irish came to London to take advantage of the job opportunities - in much the same way as the Ukrainians came to Donbass to take advantage of job opportunities provided by Russia.
