Only the Russian bits.

Which is what Russia put forward as a peace plan ten years ago.

These people are so brainwashed. Glad you can see through the hype.

There would not even be a need for demilitarised zone if Ukraine and the West acknowledged Russia's historical right to Donbass and Crimea, both of which have been developed by Russia for generations and have large Russian populations. They are Ukrainian in name only, and then only because they were included in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Ukraine - at the behest of Russia.

In fact this area has been pretty much fortified or ten years - which is why the war there is taking so long and resulting in so many casualties.

@owenoneill5955 I don't quite see how that works. For a start a high proportion of the Russian army - the best units - consist of highly-paid professional soldiers. I agree that the Ukrainian army is very good, however. It is trained in modern methods whereas the Russians are restricted by corrupt commanders and old-fashioned techniques. The war is taking so long because the territory on which it is being fought is very heavily fortified. Donbass sits of trillions of dollars in mineral wealth and following the uneasy peace of 2015/16 both sides built extremely complex and strong triple defence lines on each side of the front. Ukraine has never reached the Russian lines but the Russians are having a very hard job indeed breaking through the Ukrainian defences.

@owenoneill5955 Once again you are following the official line. There was neither hope nor intention of taking Kiev at all - let alone in three days. Some of the troops were told this to encourage them but, apart from the long-shot airport raid, the object of the exercise was to draw the Ukrainians into battle on their own ground. Russia had no qualms about sending in raw troops and old equipment into the dragon's mouth simply to soak up as much of Ukraine's new army as possible. Russia is only interested in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, predominantly Donbass. Here they are using professional troops - Chechen mercenaries, Syrian veterans, Wagners and others and trying to push back the boundaries left behind after the uneasy peace of 2015. They're having a hard job because, as I said earlier, the ground is heavily defended and , as you rightly say, the Ukrainians are well-trained and highly motivated.

@owenoneill5955 I don't really know what the official line is! This is just the way things strike me, based on the facts as they are known and the general principle that politicians and the media are lying most of the time. There are a few commentators who have influenced my views, but they are mostly Americans.
