  1. But the US getting hold of Ukraine's mineral wealth is what this war has ALWAYS been about. That is why America has consistently supported and paid for the Ukraine military, to say nothing of fomenting the rebellion which started it all back in 2014. The difference with Trump is that he is a peace-loving man and can see ways of getting hold of at least some of it without actually having to have people killed. There are, fortunately, sufficient resources in the western part of the country to compensate America for at least some of the billions it has foolishly and egregiously thrown into this war. Zelensky's removal via election will open the way to peace with Russia and the possibility of US trade with that country - which has, incidentally, far more of a moral right to the ownership of the mineral resources of Eastern Ukraine than the Ukrainians do.
