  2.  @marijo1951  I think there is a doubt. There appears to be some precedent, hinted at but not out in the open. People do sometimes report false crimes in order to simply get a crime number to support an insurance claim. In this instance the suggestion is that Haig wanted a new model phone because she was jealous some colleagues had been given one and so concocted the whole thing to give her employers the crime number. The police rarely these days make any real effort to "solve" muggings and burglaries so will will probably never know the whole truth.
