Despite potential legal constraints the police should release details of the suspect's religion and ethnicity. The fact that they haven't just adds to the suspicion that there is an element of religious fanaticism in this dreadful incident.

@nickryder9669 I know. But in this instance it would surely be better to release more details. I doubt any lawyer would cite this is in any defence.

@nickryder9669 I'm not saying that at all. His name may not even be read out or any details given, since he is a juvenile. My point is that these rules can be set aside, and in this case they certainly should be.

@nickryder9669 It's a question of priorities. Juvenile's names are not mentioned in the press because it is thought they might be able to rehabilitate in adult life. This person has gone far beyond that stage, I would have thought. The Bulger case comes to mind.

@nickryder9669 That's true. I misremembered. All the same a court can order that details of a suspect can be released, and it would have been a very good idea in this instance.

@howareyou857 Perhaps if we did know his religion, and whether or not it influenced his actions, the question of his nationality would be neither here nor there.
