Yeah I started with PHP. Looking back I wonder why not just shoot myself in the neck. Or even better, I tried to transition to more interesting companies and projects with C++, Python, and Laravel ... LOL. Shoulda just started gargling Java and .NET from the start. My region wouldn't even support me if I had been learning React. It'd be better but... theres no money for new shit compared to banks and bombs and geriatric services.
34
Yeah I'm unemployed too.
33
Lol worst day to possibly make that joke.
33
Basically an advanced compression

@bartlx jesus christ it's exactly what I feared. I thought C# would be the hellscape but I'm sure they are just separte circles in the same hell. At least with Java I can mod minecraft.

@christophermoore6110 Of human intellect. If you give it a problem that is novel and not anywhere near an existing problem already solved and documented online, it cannot do shit. It can barely handle the complexity of a monolith without 35 years of documented troubleshooting. It is an advanced search filter.
13
@0akland510 I don't even think we have that. You could take that long to create an LLM that can answer every single question that any human TODAY can. But TOMORROW it will fail when you have a new problem. Kinda scary when you realize we are heading into stagflation and everyone is investing in a tool to replace the already stagnant regurgitation of "experts".
13
Gee and which western alliance is known for doing that.

@MrKhaz101 You're underestimating working at a desk for 9 hours. The reason they are not thinking that the labor will be bad is because they will at least get to see the sun during the week. Talk to people. Space out. I've worked in a grocery store stacking boxes, lawn care, and at a desk. The desk is much more debilitating to your spirit overall. The desk seriously damages your back over time. The desk never sleeps. The desk doesn't get weekends. The desk owns your soul. And btw you're not good enough for the desk. "Actually we need some slaves across the planet to hump that desk instead. You should've worked harder for the desk. You don't deserve it. You would be out in the blistering sun working to death if it were not for the desk. Dumba-- the desk doesn't care about your degree. It wants to know how many years you have spent at the desk. You should've stayed at the desk after work more. 11 hours wasn't enough". I could jump into a wood chipper right now this shit pisses me off so much.

@lachlanmckinnie1406 How is any of that going to help us hire more black people?
9
Like we know exactly who the "bunch of assholes" are and why its happening in October of an election year.
9
@notNajimi wow you're no help. Guess I'm just gonna have to offshore all these jobs since you guys won't help me hire more black people.

As an aside I think it would be insanely expensive to run. Humans have a fairly unique brain that uses a lot of energy. It's about 20% of your total calories intake. That is 20% of the global food GPD which is 11.2 trillion. So running the current human brain intellect costs about 2.2 trillion a year just to power, let alone train, maintain, etc...
5
@edgedg no, doing it for increasingly less value/money is.
5
@Kabodanki More like the society needs us. Not the other way around. Lots of young guys going through this. Not like the young women are having trouble finding work.
5
Yann is publishing 80 articles in 2 years wtf is he writing.
3
@sjcsscjios4112 You have it backwards. Where is the proof of this advanced ai. Where are the advancements.
3
@0akland510 Yes exactly. It would be like an exponential reduction in the amount of data needed, and would fail more often working with older, more brittle, information stacks (from a blind first-attempt ). What we have right now is almost the exact opposite.
3
@rafazieba9982 Windows is responsible for their own OS. FFS. You can't give the hospitals and airports that shut down the version of windows that is on your computer, because it works on your machine. This is childish and pathetic.
3
@gregthemadmonk Modern VR has very limited pathway as far as design, so a ton of mediocre "gurus" have "predicted" it for over 100 years. John was most likely parroting Altman, who was lying. And who was punished for lying.
2
@TeaRm34paRt Yes and I'm sure they had this advice all throughout soviet russia. Not saying you shouldn't be social, or have to be social, or that social skills shouldn't help. But our society is obsessed with them. And it's the sign of a society of handouts and handshake deals not of competence. I wouldn't take such an arrogant position if the economic weren't baring this out.
2
Good. Monopolies are bad obviously.
2
@games4us132 bullshit excuse for wages dropping by people who weren't ever earning their jobs in the first place.
2
Obviously the answer is they can't get hired because their country is happy to import slaves to cover massive inflation.
1
Have you been to grocery store? Did your wages go up that fast? Green is gold.
1
@franciscos.2301 yeah how to read the news daily when we're pressing up against nuclear power. No shit I'm reading
1
Lol the one reply gets through is just the politico. Guys I reworded a few no-bullshit reports and my comment is deleted repeatedly. So I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it.
1
Cant even talk about the story without getting zen sword. Can't even talk about being zen sword. 😴

All just trying to reiterate a news story on multiple major news publications, about 4 states. I can't even mention them without getting the Co. Meant deal eated
1
France, Ukraine, Russia, us. Just Google those and "news" tab it. and they're all the rage stories this week.
1
Anyways it's 4 separate stories related from past week about Europe. Shouldn't be hard to find. I know this sounds nuts because I can't actually X plane it but I swear guys every time I even come close to the description, comment disappears.
1
@znoppen apparently not. But Reuters and BBC can and theyres pretty recent stories.
1
@Fireship the elves of Vuelothlorin have lowered their guard, though they have not dropped their suspicion. Your have receieved an uber eats delivery slowdown debuff.
1
Its because no one involved is sniffing sround to see how much melanin is involved, because its irrelevant to productivity no matter how many yt american women tell you it matters.
1
It's because Evan You Earned it. You know. Not the other kind where you .... earn it. He did. He did earn it. And so much momentum in the US is built on poorly hidden corporate sponsorship. So the benefits of svelte are getting hired by other yuppie americans that buy mac for the same silly reason: get along. Normally that's not silly. But why would you want to get along with incompetents is my question. Especially when the god's they worship copy Evan You
1
@pezo1919 Within the react (employed) world in america, it's an alternative that is considered to be more shiny with tradeoffs that is a valuable avenue to go down. I almost never see Vue brought up as often, despite vue still being respected when it is brought up. Svelte seems to be doing something specifically scratches an itch for the people in that side of js. For me, Vue is a bolt-on for my backend frameworks that I like. So it was just first choice stubborness for me. But if I had been around before composition mode, I probably woulda chucked vue in the trash.
1
@roymarshall_ No it's not. If your gripe is righteous in that the society is not running based on merit, all you have to do is detach yourself from dependence on existing capital and work from there. If we're right, and we are, we will be syphoning off idiots and eating well for a long time. You don't get to fuck with those levers without consequence. You know how hard it is to sue shoplifters mass-theft from a store? What's going to happen when the entire younger generation becomes full time digital pirates? And I don't mean stealing movie copies. I mean ripping entire SaaS.

@weho_brian HAHAHAHAHA

@GLUBSCHI Ukraine claims to have killed 1270 Russian soldiers within 24 hours, finally using US weaponry INSIDE Russia. Russian leaders reiterate a 50+ year old red line, say that our leaders are acting like it's a video game. And a few days ago 4 coffins were reportedly dumped by 3 couriers paid anonymously at the base of the eiffel tower. France reports they were paid by Russians.
1
I'm sorry to say this in such a tone, but the tens of you DF (Insert the words you know fit here) not read the GD news? In the past week, 10 or so different NATO countries gave Ukraine permission to launch missiles INTO RUSSIA. like INTO THE MAINLAND OF RUSSIA. The red line that Russia has maintained since the 60s has been clear and obvious, if US bombs enter Russia, THEY WILL ESCALATE. Russian random leader ___ (idk his name, it wasnt putin) gave out a warning of FATAL repercussions and then putin said something along the lines of "your leaders think they are playing a fucking video game". Side tidbit, somebody paid a Ukrainian, German, and Albanian around $400 to leave 4 coffins full of plaster in Paris a few days ago. They were captured and France reported that they suspect Russians are responsible. 4 coffins at the base of the eiffel tower. Everyone is waiting to hear this shit on the Today show and it's a little more urgent than that. You guys sound like Millies from F 451 All of this information came from Reuters and BBC(the british one). PLEASE pay attention FFS. This isn't a conspiracy. It's a red line being crossed and the Russian leaders reiterating a 50 year old threat. I don't know anything you don't know I'm just fucking reading about the hot war with Russia.
1
@JoseMonteverde Ahh I see you hire from vishnu plus.
1
@carlosn894 Just don't talk about cake
1
@user-tr1zj They pray to vishnu now for QA
1
replaced with slaves.
1
@EdStraker720 Yeah no shit sherlock they can't stop you from doing anything online. That doesn't make it smart to do. Kaspersky themselves are not a criminal organization. If the US makes it illegal to use they are not going to push updates to your app. And yes kaspersky knows your location when you are using their VPN. Obviously. Go ahead whats youre next fucking genius response.
1
@EdStraker720 Well if you're in the US it's "banned" which doesn't mean they'll come after you, but have to go out ofyour way to get updates. The ban prevents kaspersky from "Entering new contracts" and updating software in the US. doesn't seem to be applies on a personal level.
1
@cedrics7374 Yeah they are.
1
@atrus3823 WRENCH UPDATE - WRENCH UPDATED TO V28.19.2. ALL YOUR WRENCH SETTINGS ARE BYE BYE.

It's 4 minutes old

@cate01a 4o is garbage.
1
@peterk.2108 Well writing and debugging dirty unreadable functional code is exactly what they are gonna be doing whenever Vishnu decides to grant them a job. So they're on the right track and that's something positive that I can say at least.
1
Gold as in hilarious. Might as well just say CIA.
1
@tengille how about Reuters BBC politico etc...
