Factories around the world shut down; people stopped going out to restaurants; airlines grounded flights. Millions of people were laid off as business disappeared practically overnight. The unemployment rate in America shot up to nearly 15% from about 3.5% in February 2020. It was the sharpest economic contraction on record. And to top it all off, we had an inept cretin infesting the White House who bungled a response at every turn.

The national debt has risen by $7.8 trillion during Trump’s time in office. That’s twice as much as what Americans owe on student loans, car loans, credit cards and every other type of debt other than mortgages, combined, according to data from the Federal Reserve. It is now at its highest level relative to the U.S. economy since the end of World War II.
