Vitale, ruled it unconstitutional.

  2. On June 14, 1954, some rando President by the name of Dwight Eisenhower decided to sign in a law adding "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. Two years later, Eisenhower also made "In God We Trust" the United States' official motto. The pledge, as recited by U.S. schoolchildren, wasn’t standardized until World War II, and didn’t contain “under God” until 1954.
