  2. I've been up late on all six populated continents and the only place I had to feel alert was in South Africa. "Shitholes" like SF and NYC are tame compared to some places abroad that I've gone.

  4. "Criminal" is a wide and vague definition in the PRC though. Pretty much anything can be construed as "picking quarrels and provoking trouble" if the police don't like you for whatever reason.
