@wookie2222 Wookie - very good insight and analysis. I hope there is much more people like you in Germany with this approach but we both know it’s not the reality... I used to work in German several times - the longest for Mannesman D2 in Duesseldorf and met both good open people as well as people who treated me with prejudice and sometimes even discriminated against me. I speak German but due to the popularity of English never got proficient in it - so regular Germans in the street would often treat me as a ‘ghastarbeiter’ when I spoke German to them. Later I learnt a trick to start convos first in English and when my interlocutor sucked at it - I was turning to German. That way a proper respect was guaranteed ;) - is it a German thing or the low class people problem - don’t know. That was in 2001. As I got older I met many human snakes and sordid a-holes in Poland as well. We, Europeans are more connected than we want to admit. Poland had tremendous influx and outflow of people - for example my great great grandpa whom I never had a chance to meet was German. Does it matter? Not at all - I’m Polish and there are many Polish people with such predecessors... I think the big problem with Germans is that a lot of them trust their government and believe it’s acting to help them and lead Germany in beneficial direction. We Poles differ here and generally know government people are oppressive a-holes. But I hope Germans are opening their eyes in this respect recently and opposing and pushing their government to action regarding Ukraine. I don’t agree with your assessment of the situation regarding German policies for the last twenty years. I think Putler had corrupted and bribed your whole political class - well maybe not whole but hundreds of them. He had the funds to do it and russians are master spies... One more thing. It’s what always annoys me with Germans like you - please don’t say - ‘we did that to Poles’ - it wasn’t you! The people who did it are gone. Maybe it was your grandpa but still - with your convictions and perceptions of reality that you are presenting - in my eyes at least - you had nothing to do with all that evil that your predecessors did. It’s not you!

They had been hunted like dogs on the streets of their cities for 6 years and being murdered mercilessly by dozens in the cities and by whole villages - 700 or 900 villages were destroyed completely and their citizens murdered during the war. No wonder our grandparents had a trauma related to Germans. But also what you’re claiming is not entirely true. My grandpa after the death march from Majdanek death camp and after slave work in proximity of Leipzig - walked back to liberated Poland after the war and settled in a deserted German village close to Szczecin. They found a German teen there - he had lost all his family so my grandpa instead of revenge and death camp tattoo on his arm - he took him to his home and treated him just as his own son... Willy repatriated to DDR in the fifties when he was 20 but they kept writing letters and seeing each other up till my grandpa’s death in 1989...

@NewbieGamersoRus oh yes - and it was psychopaths who organised and conducted it Namely - russian NKVD in order to smear Poland and Poles after the war so that the west can rest their efforts of rescuing Poland from under soviet occupation with ease. Pogroms had always been a Russian thing not a Polish one. You need to study way more of history and be able to find true sources.

@kolecava getting ideologically indoctrinated has nothing to do with being open minded. I had my share of Swedish and Norwegian ‘open mindedness’ - that is simply being indoctrinated, dull and unable to think by themselves when I worked in Scandinavian offices several years ago...

@snowdogthewolf it’s not that simple. Ukraine has a huge army comparing to Baltic states. The only big NATO army in Central Europe is Polish and it takes time to deploy American army (Germans will not do anything) - so it’s Polish tanks and fighter planes that are protecting Baltic states from Russia during first werks

@pashakdescilly7517 Your information is wrong. Polish mathematicians cracked military enigma (he one with three wheels) and provided working specimens to France and Ukraine. It was also in Poland that first cypher bombs (machines to identify coding keys) were built and transported to uk during the war. They were perfected in Bletchley park later on

@andriandrason1318 it’s not due to money spent by EU - it’s due to entrepreneurship of Polish people and will to improve our lifestyle after decades of being forced into communism. EU is slowing us down more than helping. And btw -Poland is already almost a net contributor.
