During the Filipino-American War (1899-1902) hundred of thousands, potentially millions of Filipino civilians were murdered by the American.   11. @frank6218 AGREE. The fact that China lifted 800M Chinese out of poverty is not only significant for Chinese history, but impressive because it is the first time in HUMAN history. Realistically, Xi was aided by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai, whom in 1963 proposed China's 4 Modernization. Zhou's protege, Deng Xiaoping, was able to execute the modernization of China, leading to Xi's achievements. I also think the extraordinarily disciplined Chinese workforce should be acknowledged.

  13. Not just technological advanced companies like Huawei, BYD. CATL + DJI, but China is constantly innovating in all sectors. There is a faucet on Temu - it is a combo cup cleaner (done by the faucet) and soap dispenser - BRILLIANT !

  14.  @Andy-P  In China -before marriage the husband is required to have a house/apt ready for the newlywed. -parents of the married couple will move into their cramped apt to watch their grandkids, while the couple work. When Xi allowed Evergrande and several other companies, all with risky practices, to liquidate, most Chinese benefited because now they can afford to buy a bigger and/or better residence, due to housing glut caused by Evergrande and others. Thus, three generations of Chinese were freed from sharing a minuscule apt, because the grandparents can easily purchase their own apt, in the same building. Beijing did the right thing by letting the over-leveraged real estate developers fail.

The Philippines finally gained independence from the US in 1946, but it is still a poor country, as opposed to Vietnam, which went to war with the US, but has improved economically. The "debt trap" was concocted by an Indian, jealous of China's progress. The IMF and the World Bank demand more punitive conditions than China for their loans; Sri Lanka already was in heavy debt prior to it joining BRI. I don't see any nation willing to help Pakistan; I highly doubt you do. Many countries, like Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and African nations are benefiting from BRI. As alluded to in the video, Indonesia has the first hi speed rails in SEA, China has invested heavily in the Jazan region of S. Arabia. In Africa, China has built ports, roads, hospitals.

  42.  @iceteazen  You are misinformed. Argentina currently owns the IMF $44 B, and that nation still has not repaid it's 1980's loans, it took out from IMF. The IMF demands countries make austere economic changes, as a prerequisite for any loan - changes that usually sink a country, like what is happening in Argentina. A similar scenario also occurred in Pakistan and Egypt.

True, the IMF/WB probably won't lend to a "failed state". Most of the West probably considers Afghanistan to be a failed state, despite being invaded/devastated by the Soviets, then the Americans. But China was willing to invest in Afghanistan, which is currently in BRI.

And most countries chose China's BRI, considering there are ~150 nations in BRI, even with exit of: -Italy, pressured by the US bc Italy is the 2024 president of G7 -Philippines, bc young marcos is avaricious of the money in the US, stolen from the Filipino people, by his corrupted family.

  45.  @iceteazen  150 nations chose BRI over IMF/WB because they don't want their economies ruined (like Argentina, Pakistan and Egypt), they welcome the Chinese technologies, and understand the Chinese workers are NOT "shaddy", but rather legitimate "quid pro quo" for the assistance China is offering. A great example is the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railways, which cuts the old 4hrs trip to only 1hr. Previously Indonesians whom worked in Jakarta had to stay there during the week, because of the arduous commute; now said workers can travel back and forth daily, increasing their families' quality time.

(800 M > 2X the population of the US) I think most countries would prefer to emulate China, rather than the US, with gov't controlled by AIPAC, frequent random gun violence and deaths, homelessness, epidemic drug problems, uncontrollable crimes in the cities (every couple of days, there is a shooting in the NYC subways). Don't employ medical terms that you don't understand; the US is politically threatened by the socialism-capitalism in China.
