Neither the USSR nor China were truly "communist". China's incredible advancement was due to her system of "Socialism with a Chinese Character". Without her Socialism, she would not had been able to raise >800M Chinese out of poverty, nor had accomplished all the programs that improved the lives her people, because with just Capitalism, there is an oligarch of the super-rich, benefiting from the labor of the people.
