Not just EV. I have made many ridiculously cheap purchases from Temu. The quality and details of even a $3 item is incredible; I would be surprised if the Chinese producers make any profit - perhaps < 5%.

@figgbx112 Right. You are being 'spoiled' by Temu. Temu has a warehouse in NJ, my resident state; free shipping in 5-6 is also pretty impressive. I just hope Temu doesn't pull out of the US, after seeing what the US got has done to TikTok.

@celanian8188 Agree. By 2015 Musk had received $4.9B in subsidies, probably a lot more since then. In 1/2024 he said, "If no trade barriers are established, they (Chinese EV) will pretty much demolish most other companies in the world". After 100% tariff was imposed, the hypocrite verbalized that neither he nor Tesla asked for the tariff.
