  6. Is there not an agreement that the areas around the bases are part of the UK? Why they should leave now only some people would like it? I estimated the Geeks like to have the Brits there for security. In close future there will be in addition a french military base in the South.

  8. International sanctions on N. Cyprus were a huge mistake. Instead of becoming an open place for international trade, people and influence, the sanctions pushed N.Cyprus into the only one left state, where exchange is directly & easily possible: the Turkish Republic.

  13.  @Shameofoccupiers  This is the root of the conflict: Who is why the real owner? The first, the last or the longest owner? If no agreement is to see, usually in general life and history ALWAYS 1 of 2 options happen: "Final" beat/war or split (peaceful or after quick beat).

Did the USA ever care about "Inter. Law"? Or Russia? Int. Law never changes facts & realities. They should call these laws "friendly advices". They help only, and even that not always, for positive or negative propaganda. Not more.

  15.  @lamondaforestry  Without this troops the Greeks would come directly. That is the reason, why they disturb. The policy of N. Cyprus & Türkiye is the same how it is within the EU: Everybody can come work. The real reason, why you do not like the settlers, is that they make N.Cyprus stronger.

Finally, to be does not mean to own - huge difference! You can hope to get the North back after USA is given back to Indians. Wait some 50 years more...

  29.  @alierem4266  Confederation = 1 State with the north as "Junior Partner". Now there are 2 undependentt states. States which do not recognize the North, actually they see it as a part of Turkiye. What has been worked 50 years, just after the escalation phase, will also work the next 500. Hostakal

  30. Recognition beside, everybody knows, there is a border, which splits two different ethnic groups with two different states and different names, what is all not a secret. Of course, all non-greek maps show it. You do not need to lie, it will not help. Everybody knows who did the genocide on the island, especially Brits & Turks know it. The Greeks on the island teached their neighbors in the 50s/60s until 74, how crime against humanity works, they got in 74 only a little back what they had sent before. 1 of 2 reasons why the murder nation did not get more support. UK is still a colony because of a turk-friendly policy? That is new! Funny! The Turks believe in opposition that the Brits suffer a greco-fetisch. If UK would really give up the bases, what no Turk expects, it is usual to give it back to the last official owner. Guess who it is!

  34. At least one thing I have learned by (the comments of) this video: I knew already that the Cyprus conflict was originally a conflict between Brits & Greeks. Fascinating how they changed it to a conflict between Turks & Greeks. Nevertheless I had believed the Greeks would see the brit. milit. bases as the protector of the South how the turkish soldiers are seen as protector of North. And now it comes suprisingly out that some (most? all?) of south see the Brits still also as occupation power which they want to kick out too. From the most important strategic place to be in the east med sea. Maybe I slept some seconds while watching, but I missed that part of the story. Anyway, if it is true, it makes it much more difficult for the greek style final happy solution on Cyprus. It is like David versus two Goliath`s. There are more realistic fairy tales.

  35. You have not understood the turkish mindset. They think, they have already a great shelf access (how the routs of turkish ships show it regularly) with or without Cyprus. The "Blue homeland" is not a concept for the future, it is a map of today.

  36.  @theglobalgambit  No, it is similar unrealistic how the old idea of an unit it is. The turkish side had already lost the trust in 1974 and the Greeks have done absolutely nothing over the last 50 years to get the trust back. After 2 new born generations the differences between the both parts are bigger than the difference between the motherlands Turkiye & Greece. Who believes in an unitification between north and south, probably also believes in an unitification between west and east, between Greece & Turkiye. If I would be a Greek, I would avoid this kind of thinking.
