"To flee poverty" I'm sick of channel 4 saying these words as if they're a valid reason for irregular border crossing. They're not. Crossing a border because you're poor makes you an economic migrant and it makes the irregular border crossing illegal. You can not abuse the asylum system because of poverty no matter how severe. Those who do are the reason asylum claims take so long to process in every developed nation and why the international asylum system itself is in jeopardy.

It's not crazy. Economic migrants all over the world have been doing it for years when they want to try to force their host government to rehouse them. Do you not remember the greek morja camp in 2020?

That's entirely separate to my comment which surrounds an ongoing use of language by channel 4 regarding migrants and not any one particular story. You think you're being empathic, but really you're being the complete opposite. Time to grow up

@KeithRingo Who won't like what? International law is international law. Asylum claims are only valid if you are fleeing war or are a victim of certain types of persecution. All other irregular border crossings are illegal. Those are facts. I don't know who you think won't like that.

@reheyesd8666 You don't understand international law at all if that's how you think it works. International law is enforced against all signatory nations. Signatory nations also ratify the laws they sign up to making them also domestic laws. Get a clue
