  9.  @calvinsylveste8474  I suspect the point being made is that the news made a big thing about a neck and neck race that never materialised. Or to put it another way, they lied about and sensationalised potential outcomes in order to make coverage seem more exciting/improve ratings. OP said election news, not election outcomes (which we still don't have, only another poll).

  10.  @calvinsylveste8474  The problem is the media report polls as if they are fact, then sensationalise them. Lots of people buy in to it, that's the problem. You only have to stroll through the comments to see how many people are "relieved" that yet another poll shows the early polls were wrong. Polls are used as a marketing tool during elections to influence outcomes.
