@mitsunori222000 When people say coup, they're shortening coup d'etat. You'll be happy to know that there factually was not a coup. A coup d'etat is - a sudden and decisive change of government illegally or by force That did not happen in Myanmar. The Tatmadaw have been the highest level of government (dictatorship) for 61 unbroken years. The representative assembly was a lower level of government that answered to the Tatmadaw. The representative assembly was never democratic and had no actual power. Myanmar has never had democracy. They were just for show to lure foreign investment. The Tatmadaw is constitutionally the highest office of government. The Tatmadaw decided to have members of the NLD party arrested by civilian police for what they claim was corruption. We can talk about whether the charges were trumped up or not, but they were legal charges to bring and the arrests were all legal. The Tatmadaw did not cease power, they already had it. There was no coup.
