@robertthomas4234 On the contrary, every virus ever eradicated required the will to do so. Please don't twist or misrepresent my words, the EU has lacked the will to act appropriately. The EU has had inadequate suppression measures the whole of the pandemic. Instead the leaders have played politics and failed to protect their constituents or even to communicate with them effectively. It's the same story across the channel in the UK. Every country that has done well so far have had adequate suppression strategies, have communicated effectively, openly and consistently and have put the health advice / science first. Before what is popular, before what industries want. Every country who has done well, has had to will to do so. The EU has not. Let's be clear here, the more a virus is allowed to circulate the higher the risk of mutation. Omicron is already starting to become different enough from the proteins in the vaccines that they're less effective. The more it circulates the more likely we move to another variant that our vaccines don't provide protection against, or worse. Our window for eradication is closing but the EU and North America seem happy to just let SARS-COV-2 become endemic through inaction.
