  1. So it's the same issue as a rotary engine, hahaha. The other good point is that even if rotary valves had a more finite lifespan, it would be much easier to rebuild than a bottom end for example. Not even as hard as a head gasket replacement. Apex seals on the rotary valve would solve some issues and add some new ones. Very cool!

  2. WAIT! Just had a fantastic idea. Rotary free valves! Have the rotation controlled by a stepper motor instead. Could add seals that see far less constant friction, infinite timing options, better duration full open, and on and on. Would be sick if it could work!
