Note: Strategic Ambiguity has been America's formal position on Taiwan since President Carter. It is NOT Biden's policy, or Trump's policy ---- it is AMERICA"S policy. It has been held by ALL presidents since invoked. Now, since China has revoked its part in Strategic Ambiguity, the US should abandon it, IMO. Remember, China was supposed to go along with our policy, with its own policy of Strategic Ambiguity -- they were to say Taiwan is part of China, but be vague about bringing into the fold. Xi has changed that. So, we should change, too.

America's policy since President Carter of Strategic Ambiguity regarding Taiwan has resulted in a lack of trust in America by Taiwanese -- and that is understandable. I doubt US will need to send troops to Taiwan if China attacks. 1. Taiwan has the missiles and mines to make the Taiwan Strait a killing zone for an invasion fleet. 2. I do think US will break any blcokade China tries to iimpose. 3. China will get the same severe sanctions that Russia has gotten ---- which is worth more than armies, IMO. 4. I doubt Japan will send troops to Taiwan. 5. HOWEVER, both US & Japan will assist Taiwan with satellite and other reconnaissance. 6. US is selling Taiwan all kinds of weapons that were NOT sold to Ukraine. 7. The Russo-Ukraine War has altered the West's thinking. US, EU, and UK are no longer going to try to involve Russia and China in World Commerce with the assumption that that will slowly liberalize and democratize them. 8. China, like Russia, will find itself slowly isolated, or at least greatly diminished in world trade. World supply chains will change to be less dependent on China. China will lose the ability to extort or blackmail countries using trade.

If China attacks Taiwan, it must be understood that there are much bigger issues than whether China controls Taiwan or not. If China takes Taiwan, then China will control the South China Sea --- THAT is a much bigger problem, let me explain, IF China controls the SCS, then China will control the maritime trade of many countries in the region. Philippines, Thailand, Vietname, ROK, Japan, Indonesia, India and others use it for a huge percentage of their trade. Some of them can be reduced to vassal states to China, since China will control so much of their economies. THAT is the bigger issue. The US, Japan, and others CANNOT allow China to hold countries hostage.
