  1. Strykers kind of are. They hit hard compared to light infantry like a platoon of marines. Air cavalry kind of also fill the role since they fill the shock infantry role, but they still do most of their fighting on the ground with vehicles for support US army in general are heavy infantry: they show up to every fight with way more/better armor then most of their enemies going back to WW2. India, China, and most armies barely even issued full armor to most infantry until pretty recently using American inspired or made kit.
