I dunno, this sounds deliberate. This sounds like the ever so progressive and inclusive Google that had senior directors flying a certain far left flag of tolerance.
28
Sounds like either Microsoft or Google.
28
I like the instructions about booting into safe mode and renaming some files to get around the Crowd Strike issue. Microsoft installs are pushing more and more to bitlocker. Good luck trying recover the machine with that cancer enabled. When I say cancer I mean a piece of software that makes it abundantly clear that you have no power over your own computer systems.
27
AI that definitely doesn't hallucinate. Thanks, Larry and Larry and Satya and Jamie. BTW is this the same Oracle that I'm in a class action for them misusing my personal data even though I have never had any direct dealings with Oracle? That Oracle? If you're an *** that still uses Windows I don't know what to say to you.
27
How very French
27
@woodym2 Never go full Autodesk.
27
Of course it's a whamen.
26
Oh no! Nixos banned Bryan! What ever shall we do.
26
The masses do not care that they are running malware and spyware in Windows. I've had people say to me "why do you care" or "I have more important things to concern myself with" or "I have nothing to hide" I leave them be because it's not worth trying to help these people. It's like people who keep using Adobe and Autodesk software despite being abused by those companies and they're too lazy to retrain.
26
It was the first thing I checked and sure enough.
24
Democrat operatives ? What could possibly go wrong ?
23
Bryan, use Brave, ZERO ads.
22
I'm seriously thinking about sending an email to the board at Gnome with a subject that says "lunduke, lunduke, lunduke "
22
I rarely use Wikipedia. The contagion in that place runs way too deep. We can never have nice things with these people running around.
22
This is the improved empowered society that we keep being told about when SJW's take over.
22
Their is a tool for creating bitstreams for early Altera/Intel FPGA's that Intel has deep sixed. I've seen many people asking Intel where this software is and the response is always "we don't have it anymore". I have a copy (being a pack rat) and over the weekend I considered uploading it to the archive. I am so sick of corporations just destroying stuff that people paid for and saying "tough"
18
Based. I'm laughing so hard right now.
18
Here I was thinking they had crossed their T's and dotted their I's for the amount of noise they make about putting this thing into a production operating system kernel. Good god,
17
When you use Rust you're automatically better than everyone. Zero bugs, perfect features, too cool for the room. Because everything about being a software engineer is just syntax, rust and absolutely nothing else. The zealotry these days is absolutely off the charts.
16
Imagine spending so much of you sweat and tears building software and a bunch of people that are 100% not technical, profit from your work while theses scumbags play game of thrones against each other and none believers. unreal.
15
Microsoft is the ultimate clown show, joining Google in the ring.
15
IBM is a good company? What century are you talking about? IBM has been utterly atrocious to its staff for as long as I can remember. It may have been a "little" better in the 90's.
14
Send all your code to big corp so they can look at it and write code for you. Then somewhere in that 1000 page TOS all your base belong to them. Cynical? Maybe.
14
Hey, if you take the memory and no one is ever able to access the memory or reuse it then that is inherently "safe" LMAO.
14
Sadly this is what a lot of corporations are like.
14
It was back up this morning then went down again. I haven't retried.
14
ruh roh
14
Next weeks Episode: Mozilla is an AI company now.
14
Was the conference held in a secure location unknown to Rust zealots? I sure hope so.
14
I wonder how long it'll be before there's an assertion that there are NotC's everywhere in the kernel so Linux should implement their version of Microsoft CoPilot to reduce the "infection"
13
How can this be? It's the same "Java doesn't leak memory or resources" all over again. Anything that uses Rust 🦀glows with a light that is brighter than the Sun. Cope.
13
Because of course they have.
13
We haven't reached peak democracy yet,
13
Think how horrific Wikipedia is. I can't stand that place and the forever e-begging.
12
The more I learn about Australia the more I'm saddened. I thought the UK was bad. What Australia did to its people during the vid was beyond reprehensible too. Again, just like the UK.
12
You know you just summoned them, right?.
12
Basically those that scream the loudest have skeletons in their closet. Every single time.
12
I guess they will start firing those that didn't turn up. In my last role I was required to pledge allegiance to the flag with veiled threats, being blk all the more so after receiving emails telling me "you belong here". When I and many others didn't pledge, well, I think you can guess what happened next. There's a reason I have my username as I and many of us have been putting up this doggy dodo for years. These people don't just deesriminate, they go after people that don't comply regardless of their stripes, grace or grinder.
12
If so Leonard bot would have completed his mission as he returns back to his charging port in the Microsoft headquarters.
11
@dkosmari Good god. You have brought back some PTSD. Brand new servers with 1/2TB ram running 10 Java processes that aren't doing very much but have hundreds of threads and many, many gigabytes of set size ensuring the machine is swapping. I will never ever go near another Java DEV. The delusion is real. When I retired they were still around spreading their delusions.
11
Really? I worked in a large well known company where their central system was written 100% in Python. In fact I believe it is the largest python deployment/production system anywhere. The parts that I had the misfortune of having to deal with were utter garbage on every level you can imagine.
11
But this is Microsoft's truth. How dare you.
11
@RealLifeIronMan I guess I was one of the few lucky ones. I got paid for every hour of overtime I did for the almost 7 years I worked on that project as a contractor. However, once I became an employee of said US arm of German company ... conditions deteriorated fast. I quit after a year as I was no longer dependent on a visa with that company.
10
Everything Microsoft touches turns to cancer.
10
HR is never your friend. Laws be damned.
10
I used to get 24 hour YouTube bans for saying stuff like this.
10
Worked "at the intersection" you say? Wants to "enact social change" you say? “Winston had disliked her from the very first moment of seeing her. He knew the reason. It was because of the atmosphere of hockey−fields and cold baths and community hikes and general clean−mindedness which she managed to carry about with her. He disliked nearly all women, and especially the young and pretty ones. It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy.” -- George Orwell, 1984
10
Clearly there's a skill issue at System76 - I only say that because I clearly remember someone at System 76 very publicly saying others have a "skill issue" what comes around comes around.
10
You aren't. We just keep our mouths firmly clamped shut because those that can't or are emotionally stunted will punish you for disagreeing with them.
10
To be or not to be, that is the question.
