  1. Many folks in developed nations don’t understand. Formerly colonized peoples are socialist due to their continued struggles against imperialism, which inherently is an anti-capitalist struggle. National liberation movements like black liberation in America tend to be socialist. MLK and Malcolm X saw the struggle for black liberation as inherently socialist. There’s a reason Nelson Mandela had a close friendship with Fidel Castro. Indigenous peoples in Latin America support nationalization of national resources and maintaining western corporations out of their markets. While social democracy and state socialism (specifically Marxist-Leninism) is not ideal, it is necessary to battle western corporate hegemony. Though let’s push for democratic and libertarian forms of socialism are more triumphant.
