  2. Mr. Mountain Capitalists are property owners and bosses. Not everyone is a Capitalist. Capitalism is not equivalent to a market economy either. It is a mode of production that’s exists within a market economy. One fundamentally opposed to what Classical Liberals actually had in mind.

When the United States was shifting towards industrial Capitalism before and during the Civil War a Libertarian Socialist movement occurred. Lead by Benjamin Tucker these Individualist Anarchists fought against the encroachment of wage slavery. They understood Capitalism is not the free market Classical Liberals advocated and be harmful to freedom the laborers enjoyed. Influenced by the Mutualism of Pierre Joseph-Proudhon they advocated actual freed markets. Such as property ownership based on usufruct and actual usage. The elimination of privileged forms of profits, landownership, and usury. The Anarchists pushed for a Mutual Banking of little to no interest that the worker’s may always have Capital to participate in the free market. Worker’s would have their full value of labor. Unfortunately the spread of industrial Capitalism hastened under The Civil War and they understood they couldn’t break the privileged Capitalists concentration of wealth by their means. Tucker’s was a artisanal Socialism and post-industrialization it was no longer viable. Hence some became Anarcho-Communists or moved towards more insurrectionary and revolutionary methods. Capitalism involves State favor and privilege. Capitalists have the privilege to own the factors of production and be protected by authorities to maintain the working class. It’s ironic that Lincoln did away with chattel slavery but allowed for the system that would subjugate the majority of Americans to capitalists and concentrations of wealth and privilege.

  4. Sisyphus Sapiens Capitalism is a Individualist social Darwinian system where property owners exploit labor and restrict freedom from the majority. They are the new ruling elite. Not at all what Classical Liberals has in mind. Europeans suffer from the class oppression as well. Worker’s do not own their labor or produce. Under Capitalism freedom is tantamount to a person’s property.

  5. Mr. Mountain you exploit the labor of those employees. The Capitalist relies on wage labor. They extract the surplus and take away the value of labor. An actual free market as the Classical Liberals advocated would have the laborers be in complete ownership of their labor. Hence why John Stuart Mill advocated worker co-ops instead of the Capitalist employer-employee relationship. And no you’re not a bad guy, just understand that as you say for the workplace you can tell your employees what to do and how to behave. You are their master for hours a day. The Capitalist system perpetuates wage labor. You might claim as Capitalists do, that the working class are free to work where they want, they aren’t forced, or they can start their own businesses, but we all know people work whatever they can to not starve and have accommodations. It’s not that you are a bad person, it’s that Capitalism itself is a system of exploitation predicated on ideals of propertarianism. Classical liberals would be appalled at post-industrial Capitalism. Capitalism is not synonymous with market economies.

  6. Mr. Mountain Socialism isn’t government doing things. It is the ideology that advocates some form of social ownership of the means of production, and classless society. This ranges from Statist to Libertarian, Anarchist to Marxist etc... Marxist-Leninism was but one strain of Socialism that ended not in post-Capitalism but State Capitalism. What of the Anarchist societies that rid themselves of State and hierarchies? Revolutionary Catalonia, Free Territory Ukraine. Bold revolutionary excitements that unfortunately ended when they were defeated by Fascists and undermined by Leninists. Socialism has the individual free to develops their own innate talents, skills, and abilities to be free to do as they please. “The Soul of Man Under Socialism” as Oscar Wilde put it. As well as George Orwell and Albert Einstein.

In order for a government to be Socialists the ruling party and class would have to be the worker’s and Capitalism would be abolished. Libertarian Socialism aka Anarchism literally arose out of the Socialist movement. Anti-authoritarianism, anti-Statists, no hierarchies. Seriously man way to live with Cold War propaganda for 40 years. George Orwell said it true. They’ll use language to distort the meaning of words and make you believe tyranny is freedom. Socialism the ideology of emancipating the working class towards classless society is now considered the government making decisions for you. Well we have Marxist-Leninists to blame for it.

Even Milton Friedman admitted “There is one and only one social responsibility of business–to use it resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or fraud”
