  1. You can learn something about the difference between strategic and operational objectives. It may have made sense operationally to move to the rear. (Never say "retreat"). It saves your own forces and gives you the chance to regroup in newly expanded positions. Especially since Bachmut, apart from its location, has hardly any value left to defend. Strategically, however, it makes perfect sense to drive out the enemy forces in a ratio of 5:1 to 10:1 (depending on the source).

  8. The Russian army has many, many problems. Old and bad equipment, miserable supplies, poor training, low morale, and stupid operational and tactical decisions. All of this is due to a kleptocracy that has been built up for decades and the fact that people believe their own lies. The lack of soldiers, however, is not one of them. They could throw as many soldiers into that meat grinder until there's not a Russian left. But it will not change the operational weakness.

  10. Most Eastern European countries take and demand and hardly contribute anything substantial to the Union. I tell it like it is. We don't give a shit about what Poland or Hungary wants. On the public stage, we smile diplomatically but in the end, nobody cares. Germany pays 5.7 times that of Poland (with only 2,2 times the population) and 99 times that of Latvia (with 44 times the population). Who pays, decides. Easy as that.
