  1. I want to know how to write a driver for a custom pcie dram card, to extend ram beyond motherboard limits. I would need to control the MMU to have the ram on the bus recognized as system RAM and system ram used as l2 cache.

  2. Are you sure it's a single bit and not a nibble? Then how does ring 0 through ring 3 work? I thought ring 0 was privileged mode and 3 userspace? Well that's all I learned as to why I couldn't get os\2 to run in a VM on my 486 back in the day. (OS\2 ran on ring 1 , while other os's ran on ring 0 and used ring one for virtual machines which conflicts with os2, Now they have virtualization extensions and better software.)
