I know I don’t sound particularly Christmas spirited, but when I think of Michelle Mone fighting to lift herself out of hardship (if not actual poverty) I see a woman who looked down on all those like herself and felt the urge to exploit them, after pulling up the ladder of escape behind herself.
Mone is the sort of person who gets on the Titanic life boat and launches it before anyone else can get aboard, so as to have all the extra supplies. In a well ordered society she would be in jail by now. In many ways, she is worse than the narcissists and wasters born into privilege, because she knows what she is condemning others to, first hand.
Perhaps she is Americanised, or just plain stupid, enough to believe that she can somehow rescue herself in the court of public opinion, but I doubt it? I fear the possibility that she could, but I stand by my previous comments, that she only did that car crash BBC interview so as to ensure her threats of grassing reached the other politicians who are not taking her calls right now.
And should those people cave to her threats, they may well stymy the process, but she will remain ruined, sooner or later, if not actually imprisoned.
