There will always be the moneyed class, and people with money who believe they are inherently superior than others. Such a society is not based on the amount of money you, “earn,” but that which you have, whether by inheritance, hard work, crime, corruption, or sheer luck. America has a very distinct class system, which is most keenly observed whenever you see criminals face the justice system. Poor people do jail time for none violent offences and have their labour exploited for a pittance, even for highly hazardous tasks, like fire fighting as we’ve recently witnessed, with no insurance cover for life changing injury or death. Rich people don’t do prison time, usually. Not unless there is public outrage at their offences and, even then, sentences will watered down by expensive lawyers. They pay fines that barely register in their bank accounts; indeed, are worth paying instead of upholding the law, as a kind of entitlement tax.
That is the class system of America, and increasingly of the rest of the developed, “free,” world.
