  1. You touched on, and then passed by, the biggest problem in your opening remarks. Setting aside the attacks and the attacker just to comment on that: The rumours and disinformation. As you said, they will be all over the press by morning. There was a time when the leading press outlets would refer to the fact that there are rumours out there and pointedly state that they would not repeat what any of them say, as you indeed did. You display a high standard that we used to be able to expect from the BBC and other leading outlets. Now, we know that these rumours will occupy more column inches than the actual story. You asked the right question, “Do we have a right,” to hear all the bollox that will be spread by the cruel, the craven, the insane and the viscous. My answer is yes we do, but we also should expect responsible news outlets ignore them all. We don’t want to hear about them from such sources.
