  1. Well, that was a surprise. I just learned this now, from you. Haven’t read, listened to or watched the news today. I was going to take a day for video games. But this is a shocker really, because it sounds like the old guard are making way for the far right takeover, perhaps? Unless he’s got plans to be active behind the lines, without the responsibility of his shadow appointment?

  2. You mentioned OFCOM at the end there. We need urgent reform of that organisation which, thus far, has proven to be both toothless and pusillanimous in the face of blatant legal violations of the democratic process and the norms by which we set our standards. Our standards are so low these days it truly depresses me.

  3. “They’re not scrounging, they’re looking for help from the people who promised it.” Well said. And let us add to that. They’re offering economic activity with taxable income. Let’s be honest here? The real reason the far right are so hostile toward all immigrants, whether they be wealthy PhD’s or impoverished asylum seekers, is because the last people they want filling up the ranks of voters is people who fled dictatorships and would automatically vote against them. They can smell the signs of budding dictators earlier than most, having just escaped them, and are more likely to feel a responsibility to use their vote and not wish to waste their opportunity (responsibility) to vote.
