These rules already exist! You cannot be a, “news anchor,” as an MP, but all second jobs should be illegal in my view. The arguments to the contrary are completely specious! The real problem is that OFCOM is toothless and corrupted the by, “friends and families,” of Tory MP’s! THAT organisations needs to be completely swept clean and re-staffed with genuinely INDEPENDENT people who believe in DEMOCRACY, and invested with REAL POWERS to subpoena people, fine organisations, and make criminal referrals to the CPS! Anything that levels the playing field, or makes media fair and balanced, the Tories oppose.

@Lucid.dreamer : Is it not obvious to you? MP’s have political agendas. They can spin the news however they like and get away with lies, mischaracterisations and political messaging in relation to any and all news stories. Also, there is the fact that news anchors tend to be seen as, “trusted,” figures in the public’s perception, due to their (all things being equal) unbiased presentation of important information that effects the nation: i.e. “the news.” The fact that you need that to be explained to you is troubling. It makes me believe that I am speaking to someone who is either shilling for the Tories, or who simply doesn’t have the intellectual wherewithal to grasp important concepts; the latter of which would be a requirement for the former. I cannot see a third alternative, but I will allow you to present one and we’ll see if it’s plausible?

@Lucid.dreamer : To your following point: It is necessary for business, bank and other financially or politically driven professionals to exit their personal interest, “bubbles,” if they are to, “serve,” in as MP’s and nothing else. Why would you NOT want people dedicated to their jobs full time? The majority of the country’s professionals only have one full time job.

@Lucid.dreamer : My first response seems to have gotten zapped by the YouTube algorithm. I do not know why? I asked why it is not obvious to you? MP’s have political agendas and news anchors are, by definition, “trusted,” figures due to their role as deliverers of important information to the public. They can exploit their position as news anchors to mislead the public, put an inappropriate political spin on stories, or just blatantly lie. And the audience may not realise they are being lied to, only seeing a news anchor giving them, “the news,” as far as they can tell.

@Lucid.dreamer : In my, “zapped,” comment, I added that I am suspicious of someone who needs these, obvious, things explained to them. It speaks to either an utter ignorance of political reality, or a deliberate attempt to covertly argue on behalf of the Tories; the former of which would be a requirement for the latter. So it’s actually either one or both. If there is a third alternative as to why you need this explained to you, tell me about it? We’ll see how plausible you sound.

@Lucid.dreamer : No, that’s not true. Presenting news is NOT, “merely speaking.” There is a DIRECT conflict of interest. If you are being sincere about not seeing this, you are not intellectually capable of reasoning for yourself, let alone making an argument.
