@nickwarner8158 : Another important point there. I’m a Conservative. I joined the Lincoln Project because I needed a space where, “real,” conservatives stood up for principle over tribalism, with like minded, thinking people. I vote Dem right now, because America only has one political party, opposed by a racist conspiracy of kleptocrats. There are millions of conservatives who feel (and vote) like me. The people with the most to lose under a trump dictatorship are the ones fighting hardest to bring it about. They’ve been duped. And we know this, because 99% of the Jan 6th insurrectionists say as much when they learn the truth! They all say they never would have done it if they knew then what they know now. Only a few die hard racists are not learning their lessons, and they, disturbingly enough, have turned out to be cops in both the cases I’m aware of!
But, ironically enough, you know what I think will defeat trumpism in the end? The very big businesses that trump tries so hard to cultivate. In the end, racism and dictatorship is bad for business. Not just because of boycotting, or the chaos of dictatorships and trump’s now proven inability to grasp the complexities of global economic systems. But because businesses never thrive under dictatorships, and the leaders in charge of them know this. They have all the real power, and they will mobilise it to restore the free wheeling free booting systems that keep making them so rich. Trump can never offer prosperity. And it will be that which undoes his (bowel) movement, in the final analysis.
