Native Americans made the first rubber balls and have been playing soccer since 1600BC. It was played in Maine before first contact with Europeans and know as pasuckquakkohowog. We now call it soccer. Please, do keep up!

Bernhardinski and just when did Arizona return to Mexico (part of North America )?
2
Feroz Shadowfax yep, Mesoamericans played the earliest form of soccer. It spread. The first Europeans in Massachusetts found native Americans playing Pasuckquakkohowog.
2
Feroz Shadowfax "ball filled with feathers and hair through an opening, measuring only 30-40cm in width, into a small net fixed onto long bamboo canes. " Sure doesn't sound like soccer... This sounds way more familiar to basketball I might add.
2
Feroz Shadowfax Soccer was not made into an official game until 1863, when the English Football Association was founded
2
Feroz Shadowfax it was "football" it is now known as "soccer".
2
Feroz Shadowfax Archaeologists have uncovered rubber balls from Mesoamericans dating back to at least 1600 BC.
2
Feroz Shadowfax like I said we invented it, we'll call it what we want.

"pasuckquakkohowog" (look it up) now known as soccer.

Yu-Shan Lim wrong! Mesoamericans have been playing it with rubber balls since 1600 BC. It spread to North and South America and then into Eurasia. Native Americans in Maine were playing soccer when the Europeans first landed. Not that it matters but the Chinese people played much later and it was more of a basketball type of game.

It was invented by Mesoamericans and refined by the English and refined again once it returned to America. It is now known as football. The unrefined version is known as soccer.

dp3699 it started in America, so we'll call it what we want. Yes, I'm talking about soccer.

Nina Warnout what is today in honor of?

Ben Saber As far as soccer, we invented it and we can and will call it what we want. What do people ride when they play baseball, glof, soccer, tennis, basketball (like the Chinese game), kickball, rugby, or any track and field competition. North America keeps the world advancing. If your contry would step up or pay up, it would help. You're welcome!
1
BS! Mesoamericans we're playing with rubber balls as early as 1600BC.
1
Did China, Rome or England teach Native Americans to play pasuckquakkohowog? lol
