  2. I was discussing backyard chickens with a vegan once. I actually got her to think having retired laying hens in her backyard was an okay idea. She was then torn apart by her "friends".

  3.  @Xplora213  because if you got retired laying hens, you know how they're treated and there is no reason not to eat the eggs. After 2, they're retired because they're no longer laying at peak performance. So my argument is if you rescued these birds, gave them a home, developed a symbiotic relationship since you can have them happily eating your garden bugs, and they provide tasty butt nuggets, why not eat them? And the animal rights groups want to eliminate all domestic animals.
