  2. Just browsed their budget. A $6.4 billion budget includes $275 million for core education. So yeah, I’m going to say it’s bloated. Oh and almost $1000 goes to pensions alone. They spent 7 pages of the budget to whine about how the pension is woefully underfunded. Core education got 1/2 a page.

Only 4 billion of that is spent “at school level” $2.9 billion on salaries $1.6 billion on benefits $1.4 billion on contracts $326 million on commodities $121 million on transportation $71 million on equipment $341 million on miscellaneous Reading their budget report, they spent 7 pages on how the pensions are woefully inadequate. Only &814/pupil/year goes to their pension. Somehow even Covid spending affected their pension (yeah not sure what that was about). $4.4 billion is alloted to student based funding. - pensions come out of this? - out of this money, $274 million is allocated for core instruction I’d have to dig to go further.
