@JosephGithinji-jf8de : Look at it this way - Russia will NEVER invade the 3 Baltic States (which are NATO members) as long as an independent Ukraine still exists. Because Ukraine is a higher strategic priority for Russia than the Baltic States are. So money spent on maintaining the existence of an independent Ukraine is money spent on preventing the start of WW3.

@myhappyfarmtv9208 : Finland gave up some of its territory to Russia (USSR) in 1940, following the Winter War of 1939-40, and never got it back afterwards (despite trying to recapture it during the German invasion of the USSR in 1941). Ukraine is in the same situation as Finland was 85 years ago. (Except this time round, Germany isn’t going to invade Russia.)

The difference is, the 80% of Ukraine won’t be annexed to the USA, unlike the 20%, which will be annexed to Russia. The 80% of Ukraine will still be an independent nation with its own government and its own laws.

Russia is winning the war, yes - but Russia is still a very long way away from convincing Ukraine to surrender unconditionally and accept Russian sovereignty over all of Ukraine. Achieving that objective will require Russia continuing the war for at least 1 more year, possibly 2 more years.

@niklaus9678 : Israel agreed to a peaceful 2 state solution in 1947. Palestinians did not agree to a peaceful 2 state solution, and called for Arab armies to invade and destroy Israel instead. Which they did, but the Arab side lost the war. Palestinians still haven’t accepted that their side lost.

USA got S. Korean soldiers to fight for them in the Vietnam War. 5,099 of them lost their lives.
